Do Mormons believe in Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ lived over 2,000 years ago but his life and ministry were prophesied of many years before. Since the days of Adam and Eve prophets testified that Jesus would come to the earth to atone for the sins of the world.
Indeed, the prophesies were true. Many people are familiar of the birth of Jesus and his mother, the Virgin Mary. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. He came into this world as an innocent infant and lived a perfect, sinless life. Because he was perfect, he could pay the penalty for our sins. He was crucified on Calvary’s hill. Because Jesus suffered for all of humankind, we can be forgiven of our sins, receive strength to endure our trials and weaknesses, and be filled with peace and joy.
After the crucifixion of Jesus, some of His believers buried him in a tomb. On the third day he was resurrected, meaning his body and spirit were reunited and he lived again. He lives today and because He lives we, too, can live with God and Jesus Christ.
So in short, the answer to the question, “Do Mormons believe in Jesus Christ,” can be nothing short of a resounding YES! Everything — and I mean everything — the Mormon Church believes in revolves around the Savior of the World, even Jesus Christ. If you’d like to learn more, please visit mormon.org.
