Are Mormons Christians? Yes! As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I humbly declare that I believe in Jesus Christ. Mormons are Christians who have a profound love for the Savior of the world.
There are some that would say otherwise, but be not mistaken, Mormons are Christian. Everything we do in our church, and everything we do in our lives, centers around Jesus Christ.
The founding prophet of the Mormon church, Joseph Smith, taught that Jesus Christ is the core of our belief, and everything else is an appendage to it (see Elders’ Journal, July 1838, 44).
How are Mormons Christians?
“And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.”
~ Mosiah 3:17, Book of Mormon
In a lot of ways, Mormons are Christians the same way you or anyone else is a Christian. Personally, I think the first and foremost tenant to being Christian involves believing that Jesus Christ is your Savior. But I also think it involves more than belief. True Christians are those who act on that belief and use their love for the Savior as motivation to be Christ-like. That is, loving others; showing kindness; being forgiving; being repentant; acting in honesty and truth; etc. I’m not suggesting I have all those things down, but I like to think I’m striving to be the person Jesus wants me to be. And most Mormons are seeking that as well.
As Christians, Mormons believe that salvation is in Christ.
